Kamla Abu Zekry is an Egyptian director, born in Cairo in 1974. After graduating from the High Cinema Institute, she began her career as the second director’s assistant in 131 Works (131 Ashghal, 1993) by Nader Galal. Thereafter, Kamla directed her first short, The Six O’ Clock Train (Qittar Al Sa’aa Al Sadisah, 1999). After working as an assistant director on several films, she directed her first feature, Introduction to Swindling (Sanna Oula Nasb, 2004). Kamla has taken part in several international film festivals, such as the 66th Venice International Film Festival where she represented Egypt with One Zero (Wahid Sefr, 2009). After the success of her movies, she directed several TV series that also achieved critical and commercial success. Her latest work, A Day Women (Yom Lel Setat, 2016) reunited her with cinema screens.
