"Architectes Ayorou" explores both the traditional and new architecture of Ayorou, an island on the river Niger in the archipelago of Tillaberi. This short film provides a startling glimpse into Jean Rouch's methods as a filmmaker, wherein he captures the relatively straightforward narrative of a city's ever-changing landscape within the broader context of socio-cultural change, in a purely cinematic way.

This screening was made possible thanks to the support of the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) the Ethnographic Film Committee (CFE) and Jocelyne Rouch.
